New Ni No Kuni 2 Footage Shows Off Real-Time Army Battles And Another Boss

Bandai Namco has shared some new footage of its upcoming PlayStation 4 and PC RPG, Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom. In a new developer walkthrough, the publisher provides a look at over 20 minutes of gameplay footage, showcasing a new boss, as well as a real-time-strategy-like section.

The full demo, which you can watch below, begins with a chapter called The Battle for the Heartlands. This particular segment takes place in the overworld, where characters take on a chibi-like appearance. Here, the developers guide protagonist Evan Pettiwhisker Tildrum around a battlefield, commanding a small band of troops to defeat an army of bandits who are controlling the plain.

The second portion of the demo, which begins around the 7:30 mark, takes viewers into the Wyvern's Den, a more traditional dungeon. Tani, daughter of the leader of the Sky Pirates, has been kidnapped, and it falls to Evan and Roland to explore the dungeon and rescue her. After taking part in several battles against minor enemies, the demo ends with a look at a new boss, the winged Wyvern Warlord.

Ni no Kuni II is the sequel to Level-5's 2013 PS3 RPG Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch. The game was slated to release this month, on January 19, but Bandai Namco delayed it until March. Level-5 CEO Akihiro Hino said the delay was in order to "make sure the entire Ni no Kuni II experience meets our highest quality standards." This marks the second time Ni no Kuni II has been delayed, as it was originally scheduled to launch on November 10, 2017.

Ni no Kuni II is now set to release for PS4 and PC on March 23. In addition to the standard copy, the game will be available in Premium and Collector's Editions, which include bonus items such as the game's season pass, an artbook, diorama, and more.
